Competition FAQ
How do I participate in the competition?
To participate in the competition, simply register on our website and start solving the puzzles provided.
How does the competition work?
Members who have registered and paid the entree fee will be be reminded before the start of the competition.
- There will be 4 rounds of puzzles
- Each round will be 1 week long.
- During the round week, competitor must go to the Game board and click start.
- Timing will begin once the start button is clicked.
- The puzzle will be presented.
- Puzzles can be completed online but there are no helpers available (e.g. note, highlights etc.)
- Puzzles can be downloaded as a PDF and completed off-line
- The solution is entered on the Game Board and the submit button is clicked
- Timing stops and the total time is recorded for for the member.
- The competitor’s name will be listed on the leader board.
What are the rules of the Sudoku tournaments?
No use of computer aids or helpers.
Competition puzzles can be downloaded to solve off-line using pen and paper.

How do I enter my solution?
Go to the game board and enter your solution, then click the ‘submit’ button. The timer stops when you click submit.
How do you prevent cheating?
The Final will be a live event with a moderator to prevent the use of external sites or devices (e.g. ear pieces)
Posted puzzles will have a benchmark time determined by expert sudoku solvers. Any submitted solution in the competition will be with a solve time drastically outside the benchmark time range will be flagged and the competitor disqualified for first and quarter-final round. For the semi-final round, the competitor will be required to solve a new puzzle while being moderated on camera.
Can groups enter the competition?
Yes, groups can enter. A Group must have a minimum of five (5) competitors, maximum of twenty (20).
Each Group must have a group leader. The Group leader can add members to the group.
Each Group must have a name.
Each member must be a fully paid-up competitor.
Competitors can only be in one Group.
There is an Admin fee of $20 for each group.
What's the benefit of a Group?
The Group member who made the highest level in the competition will have bragging rights!
If any member of a group makes it to the final, each member of the groups will recieve a prize of $100!
If the Sudoko Champ 2026 is in a Group, $5,000 will be evenly distributed to all other members in the group.
If the Sudoko Champ 2026 is in a Group associated with
- A School: the school will recieve a special prize of $5,000!
- A Company: A donation of $5,000 will be made to the charity of choice of the group.
- Not associated: A contribution of $5,000 will be made to any non-profit/charity, chosen by the group.
